Whippy's Wednesday Slalom Round 6

Birthday Celebrations for Max Rowe as he secures his first Slalom victory of the season with an exceptional performance.

Round 6 of the Club Vass Slalom again saw perfect cross shore conditions with the wind cruising in at around 20 knots.

Max Rowe proved today that freestylers can go fast, as he swapped his usual freestyle board for a more dedicated speed board and wasted no time in getting used to the different characteristics.

As the 30 strong fleet raced out towards gybe mark 1 it was clear Colin Dixon was still on a high after securing victory last week. Colin was first round gybe 1 very closely followed by Niko, Max, Adam Chubbock and championship leader Ollie Scott.

These guys out in front all with in metres of each other managed to build a cushion between themselves and the chasing pack. With Max lying in 4 spot he was clearly the most comfortable sailor, rebelling in the slightly lighter winds than the previous events and slowly picking off Niko and Colin to take his first win of the season.

Colin, Niko and Ollie struggled a little on the inside gybe and not quite finding enough board speed to keep there positions as Adam and Ally Nicholls cruised past to take 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Colin manages to hold on to 5th spot gaining him the last point towards his championship fight. This leaves Ollie Scott still holding onto the lead by the skin of his teeth and Colin in 2nd position trailing only by a single point, so its still all to play for.

Tune in next week as the guys and girls train hard to squeeze out those extra knots.

1st Max Rowe (ClubVass)

2nd Ally Nicholls (WildWild)

3rd Adam Chubbock (ClubVass)
