Whippy's Wednesday Slalom Round 3

Round 3 delivered a steady cross-shore breeze and the closest race so far!

Racing kicked off at 18.30 pm with a packed fleet of 30 competitors. Winds reached 20-25 knots and provided the sailors with stand out slalom conditions.

The names at the top were once again Ollie Scott, Colin Dixon, Scott Perry and Ally Nicholls.

The race opened with a casual start and the sailors were playing it cautiously not wanting to make a mistake early on. Leading the charge by a couple of metres into the first gybe mark was Ollie Scott followed by last years Champion Colin Dixon, and a determined Scott Perry.

Charging down to gybe 2 it was Tour leader Ollie Scott & Scott Perry leading the pack and making a gap between them and 3rd position.

A Fired up Simon (RYA) cut his way upwind allowing him to unleash the fury over the pack boosting his position from 12th to 5th.

Back at the front you could not separate Ollie or Scott as they sailed over the finish line With Ollie maybe a half boards length in front and taking his second event win in succession with Scott Perry in a stand out 2nd. He is definitely one to watch over the next few races and is getting quicker by the day.

Back in 3rd and 4th it was a similar story, the consistent Colin Dixon taking 3rd but only by a half metre from Ally Nicholls and the charging Simon in 5th spot.

First Club Vass guest back was Mike who showed an awe-inspiring display of commitment and fortitude.
