OUR TEAM

Behind Club Vass we have a team of dedicated and experienced instructors as well as our Sponsored Sailors and British number 1, 2 and 3 freestylers, Andy "Bubble" Chambers (2008 UK Windsurfer of the Year), Colin "Whippy" Dixon and Ollie Scott. Bubble, Colin and Ollie are not only outstanding windsurfers but are also gifted instructors.

Colin "Whippy" Dixon

COLIN THE BEGINNER I started windsurfing because my dad used to do it. It was my sister who was first interested in the sport after doing an activity week with school. My dad bought her a board and she went out at the coast, forgot everything she’d learnt during the activity week, couldn’t and get back to the beach, freaked out and the windsurfing kit was resigned to the shed to collect dust. Until one day in 1980 I asked my dad if I could have a go. In those days the kit was so big that I had to wait until I was 13 until I could give it a ‘proper go’. I did some local windsurfing rallies soon after and was hooked!

COLIN THE TEACHER I started teaching in Cornwall at Sliblyback Lake in 2001 just after my first trip to Western Oz. I nearly failed my level 1 instructor course because I didn’t have the confidence, however by the end of the season I had completed my level 3 course. When I applied for Club Vass they turned me down straight away. Undeterred I sent them a photo of me doing a one-handed spoke and another photo of me drunk and I got the job! Shame it's not like that for every job! I worked in Dahab for 14 months then went to Vass and passed my Level 5 course with flying colours (of course)!

With first place in the both 2005 and 2004 British Freewave Series and a British Championship to his name, Bubble is fast becoming a name to be reckoned with on the pro circuit. Bubble is lucky enough to be a year-round instructor for Club Vass, where he is able to work in the best locations around the world. He’s unbelievable to watch, Bubble’s moves are world class and polished to perfection, but he’s also a gifted instructor who can make you learn fast too.

Bubble is now living his childhood dream of being a professional windsurfer and not content with being the current British Freestyle Champion, he is now pursuing a world title.

Ollie Scott

Interests: I have been a windsurfing instructor for over 8 years now travelling and working around the world. I have worked in Turkey, Greece, Barbados, Antgiua, Venezuela, Cape town and Brazil.

When not winsurfing I like to surf, wakeboard, and play football whenever I can. I also love a good party !
